As Women In Film, we lead by example, building our future by honoring our past.
The Women In Film Foundation (WIFF), formed in Los Angeles in 1973, recognizes past contributions and
facilitates new ones through scholarships, grants, archival
support and educational events that promote the professional
development and support the individual creative projects of
women in the entertainment industry.
WIFF’s three key programs include:
- The Film Finishing Fund gives ten to 20 independent filmmakers per year the completion funding, professional support and other industry services to finish a film in post-production.
- The Legacy Series documents women’s remarkable legacy in film, funding and producing an ongoing series of audio and video accounts by women who have made inspirational contributions to the entertainment industry and society.
- Through its Los Angeles based Scholarship Program, the Foundation offers women of all ages and backgrounds the opportunity to create careers in film and television. Thousands of dollars have been raised and disbursed to students at various Los Angeles area colleges and universities including: The American Film Institute; UCLA; USC; California State College, Northridge; California State College, Los Angeles; California State College, Long Beach; Los Angeles City College, Loyola Marymount University; The Los Angeles Film School; and Chapman University
