Some of Hollywood’s biggest stars have shared top billing with a GM vehicle. Mary Pickford, Jean Harlow, Ida Lupino, even Marilyn Monroe, gave GM vehicles a big screen spin.

As the years rolled by, GM’s lineup went from bit players to full-fledged stars.

André Benjamin in "Be Cool" (2005)

Academy-Award®-winner John Travolta made Cadillacs and HUMMERs hot in 2005’s Be Cool. Matrix Reloaded (2003) put Carrie-Anne Moss’s Trinity behind the wheel of a Cadillac CTS in one of Hollywood’s most thrilling car chase scenes ever. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence cruised the streets of Miami in a Cadillac CTS, a Chevrolet Suburban, a HUMMER H2 and a GMC Yukon Denali in 2003’s Bad Boys 2. And Bruce Springsteen might have sung about his Pink Cadillac, but Clint Eastwood made it a movie star.

Sometimes, GM cars play memorable supporting roles.  Morgan Freeman drove Jessica Tandy to distraction in a 1955 Cadillac limousine in 1989’s Academy Award®-winning Driving Miss Daisy. Other times, GM cars play scene-stealing character roles. In The Dukes of Hazzard (2005), Burt Reynolds’ Boss Hogg was larger than life – but not as large as his 1976 white Eldorado convertible with longhorns on the grille.

The Pontiac Aztek showed up on the first two seasons of the hit show, followed by the Saturn VUE. The Pontiac Torrent SUV toured the island in September 2005 and six former “Survivors” navigated the urban jungle in Pontiac Torrents during the launch of Survivor Search in the City. The Chevrolet Corvette and Chevrolet SSR have both made appearances on the new 2005 Survivor season.

Offering behind the scenes support or providing cars to the stars, GM has always been, and will continue to be, a Hollywood insider.
