Behind the camera and in front of it, women have

who we are, what we’ve accomplished, where we’ve been and where we might
yet go.

But memories fade, and valuable knowledge can be
lost. The Women In Film Foundation has created a special Legacy Series Committee to produce four on-camera interviews per year with trailblazing women in
film, preserving their unique vision and artistic
perspective for future generations. The women chosen
represent the entire spectrum of filmmaking, from
producers and actresses to set designers and agents
— and everything in between.
In 2004, the Legacy committee established the WIFF
Fellowship at the UCLA Moving Image Archive Studies
(MIAS) program. Awarded annually to two female MIAS
graduate students, the Fellowship ensures the
archiving of the Legacy Series interviews,
contributing to the long-term restoration and
preservation of women’s outstanding achievements in
film.
The Legacy Series is an ongoing living history project. If you know of someone who might be a worthwhile interview subject, please go to
www.wif.org/foundation, and let us know!
