Learning is a lifelong process. Whether you’re just starting out, making a mid-career transition or upgrading your skills, education is an investment in the future. You’re never too old – or young – to learn.

Women In Film is dedicated to providing scholarships to deserving women students based on their academic standing, artistic talents and commitment to a film-based curriculum. Special consideration is given to financial need, regardless of age, ethnicity or religious affiliation.

Every year, Women In Film and the Women In Film Foundation chapters partner with individuals and corporations, like General Motors, to fund a wealth of scholarships in cities throughout America.

  • Atlanta. Students who are members of WIF/Atlanta are eligible for a $1,500 WIF/GM Student Scholarship, awarded annually at the chapter’s "Inspiring Creativity" Luncheon.
  • Dallas. WIF/Dallas offers an annual $1,500 WIF.D Scholarship Fund to a female student who is a Texas resident studying film or video at an accredited college or university in the North Texas area.
  • Houston. WIF/Houston awards the Deborah Duncan Scholarship to a talented female student in the Houston area.
  • Los Angeles. The WIF Film School Scholarship Program awards scholarships to worthy female film students enrolled in an LA-area film school such as AFI, USC, UCLA or Los Angeles Film School. The program is funded by the sales of special Crystal + Lucy Awards table packages that include a scholarship. This, and the generous support of WIF/LA members, production companies and studios has made it possible to award more than 150 scholarships to date. Also, in partnership with two Los Angeles area colleges, UCLA and Chapman University, the WIF Foundation awards scholarships to students attending those universities.
  • • Los Angeles. The Paltrow Mentorship Award: Sponsored by General Motors in support of Women In Film's deep commitment to mentoring, the inaugural Paltrow Mentorship Award was presented at the 2007 Crystal + Lucy Awards to producer Kathleen Kennedy, who has notably mentored people in her field. An important element of this honor is a scholarship underwritten by General Motors in the name of Bruce Paltrow, celebrated industry-wide for the helping hand he extended to women. The award to Kathleen Kennedy was presented by Gail Smith of General Motors, Blythe Danner (Mrs. Bruce Paltrow) and Steven Spielberg.
  • New York. The NYWIFT Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance to second-year female graduate film students nominated by the faculty at Columbia University, New York Universities and The City College of New York.
  • Seattle. The WIF/Seattle chapter awards one Nell Shipman Scholarship per calendar year to a Washington state resident who is a college/university student or matriculating freshman majoring or concentrating her studies in film, video or cinema. Named for female film pioneer Nell Shipman, the scholarship rewards a promising young filmmaker who demonstrates the potential to make a positive impact on the film and video industry.
  • Washington, D.C. Washington’s Women In Film and Video, in partnership with the International Film & Television Workshops of Rockport, Maine, offers the annual Randy Goldman Fund Scholarship. The recipient is given $2,500 in funds and fee waivers, to cover full tuition, room and board and travel for completing one of the nation’s premiere film, video and digital educational programs.
